3.1

Advanced Stereo

A 3.1 system includes three speakers at the front of the room—left, center, and right—along with a subwoofer. The addition of a center speaker improves clarity for dialogue and voices, making conversations in movies and shows easier to understand.

This format keeps sound focused toward the front but adds depth and impact through its enhanced channel separation and low-end response. It’s a practical choice for living rooms or media spaces where clear audio is valued but rear or overhead speakers aren’t feasible.

Speaker Definitions

Front | Placed to the left and right of your screen or TV. They handle most of the music, sound effects, and action.

Center | Placed in line with your screen or TV, typically directly below. It is dedicated to voices and dialogue.

Surround | Placed to the sides or behind you. They create the immersive feeling of sound moving around the room.

Rear Surround | Placed directly behind you.  Typically used in larger or more advanced setups for deeper surround effects.

Overhead (Height) | Placed in or near the ceiling. They add a sense o fheight to the sound--like a plane overhead.

Subwoofer | Large, floor or in-wall mounted speaker that produces deep bass, like explosions or rumbling. They are felt as much as heard.

Atmos | Specially designed to project sound both forward and upward. Bouncing sound off the ceiling to allow sound to move in all directions around you.
