2.1.2

Stereo
A 2.1.2 system builds on the basic stereo layout by adding overhead or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers. These additional speakers introduce height into the soundstage, allowing audio to move not just around you, but above you as well. While it still uses just a left and right speaker along with a subwoofer, the Atmos layer adds a greater sense of immersion, making it feel like sound is coming from every direction—even overhead.
This setup is a popular entry point for homeowners who want to experience 3D sound without committing to a full theater room.
Speaker Definitions
Front | Placed to the left and right of your screen or TV. They handle most of the music, sound effects, and action.
Center | Placed in line with your screen or TV, typically directly below. It is dedicated to voices and dialogue.
Surround | Placed to the sides or behind you. They create the immersive feeling of sound moving around the room.
Rear Surround | Placed directly behind you. Typically used in larger or more advanced setups for deeper surround effects.
Overhead (Height) | Placed in or near the ceiling. They add a sense o fheight to the sound--like a plane overhead.
Subwoofer | Large, floor or in-wall mounted speaker that produces deep bass, like explosions or rumbling. They are felt as much as heard.
Atmos | Specially designed to project sound both forward and upward. Bouncing sound off the ceiling to allow sound to move in all directions around you.
